FAQ

Is there Wi-fi at Quinta Castanheira?

Absolutely! There are two routers on site; one serving the rental accommodation and another serving the bar and poolside.

Is there a minimum age to stay at Quinta Castanheira?

The minimum age for guests at Quinta Castanheira is 12 years old. Communal areas span several levels with drops, while gates to the animal areas must remain closed at all times. Parents of children over 12 are responsible for ensuring adequate supervision. We appreciate your support!

Do you accept pets at Quinta Castanheira?

Sadly, we don’t accept pets due to the number of animals already roaming around the place. Apologies for the inconvenience!

Are there supermarkets and shopping destinations nearby?

For supermarkets, Santa Comba Dão is only ten minutes away, where you will find a Lidl, Intermarche, Continente, and Pingo Doce. If you want a hit of Mall shopping, head to Palaçio do Gelo in Viseu or the Forum in Coimbra.

Is there free parking at Quinta Castanheira?

Yes, guests enjoy a private carpark! You’ll notice hanging ribbons in this area—these keep the peacocks away from the cars. We can also provide a car cover on request.

Can we use a BBQ during fire season?

You can use a barbecue in an enclosed designated area during fire season in Portugal—such as the one at Quinta Castanheira—but you can’t use portable/disposable barbecues due to the fire risk they pose. You also can’t make a camp fire at any point in the year without a licence. See our Fire Safety page for more information, and ask us if you have any questions!

What are the maximum number of guests at Quinta Castanheira?

While the accommodation has three double bedrooms and is advertised for six, there is also a sofa bed and we are licenced for up to eight people.

Can I have my party at Quinta Castanheira?

We don’t accommodate really big parties here but are always happy to discuss daytime family gatherings, drinks on the poolside, or small hen/stag groups. Due to various laws in Portugal, we’re afraid that the volume needs to go down at 10 pm and all visitors staying overnight must be pre-agreed and registered. Events are subject to our approval, hosts must be guests at Quinta Castanheira, and there may be additional charges—but we’ll do what we can to bring your idea to life, so drop us a message to enquire!

Are you on site if we need anything?

Yes! We live in the blue house at Quinta Castanheira, and although we have a separate garden and entrance, you will see us in the bar and on the poolside from time to time. We try to intuit how much contact or privacy our guests prefer—but if you ever need anything, you can always summon us using the doorbell in the bar, or by giving us a call!

Do you have a complaints book?

All businesses in Portugal are required to have a registered complaints book. We have a physical complaints book on-site and a digital version that can be found here: livroreclamacoes.pt
