Quinta Castanheira’s plentiful amenities are at your disposal, including a 14m swimming pool with an infinity edge—great for swimming lengths—and a submerged seating area/plunge pool, ideal for staying cool on a hot summer’s day. A large deck, decorated with sun loungers and parasols, frames the pool, extending to meet a covered area with dining tables that are always ready for a picnic.

Across the courtyard, there is a large bar that serves as the perfect retreat when the sun gets too strong and a fun place to spend evenings with fairy lights a-twinking! The space features a vintage-tiled counter, dining tables, dart board, stone fireplace, fitted kitchen, and double barbecue. We operate an honesty bar, with a stock of wine, beer, and soft drinks. There is a washing machine that guests can use upon request.
Swimming Pool
The swimming pool at Quinta Castanheira is fully off-grid, with a filtration system running on its very own stand-alone solar system. The pool is only lightly chlorinated thanks to the sun’s power, allowing us to run the filter from dawn until dusk. Because the pool is above ground and features dark tiles, it warms up very quickly in nice weather compared to a conventional pool, so summertime visitors can anticipate a very comfortable swim.
Opposite the bar, there is an additional toilet for the convenience of those enjoying the pool and shared outdoor areas. You will notice that there are low-mounted mirrors dotted about the place—these are for the entertainment of our resident peacock who loves nothing more than looking at his own reflection!
