Isn’t it funny when fates converge? Jemima and Wesley actually met out here in Portugal, having led parallel lives locally for more than a decade without once crossing paths! Originally from England and Belgium, respectively, both have long been in love with the simplicity of a life spent in this beautiful region. Once united, they set about transforming Quinta Castanheira from a long-deserted and rundown smallholding into a place filled with life and open to visitors.

Alongside their roles as hosts to holidaymakers, Jemima is a commercial copywriter with a passion for gardening, while Wesley works in construction and is finally living the longstanding dream of becoming a cowboy! In fact, they discovered Quinta Castanheira when trying to find a property where they would have enough space to raise Cachena cattle, a miniature heritage breed that is native to Portugal.

Having traded high-pressure lifestyles in their home countries for the slow pace in rural Central Portugal, Jemima and Wesley now embrace the opportunity to invite others to step into the tranquil bubble they have created.
